Post-truth

 Hello Readers,

        welcome to my blod

#  post-truth

• "Relating to or donating circumsances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief. "

• After much discussion, debate, and research, the Oxford Dictionaries word of the year 2016 is post-truth an adjective defined as 'relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public poinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.

• post-truth politics (also called post-factual politics and post -reality politics ) is a political culture in which debate is framed largely by appeals to emotion disconnected from the details of policy, and by the repeated assertion of talking points to which falsifying of facts by relegating facts and expert opinions to be of secondary importance relative to appeal to emotion. While this has been described as a contemporary problem, some observers have described it as a long - standing part of political life that was less notable before the advent of the internet and related social changes.

• It isn't just the U.S., the climate of blatant lies has permeated politics worldwide.Perhaps it is not that truth is irrelevant for politics but what is needed is a theory of truth that fits politics

Looking at the theatre of politics around us today, it is difficult not to give in to a sense of cynicism. Perhaps more than any other theme in contemporary politics,it is the prevalence of lies that defined the American election; the climate of blatant lies has entered into the way politics is conducted across the world today.

• Reality can be so complex that equally valid observation from differring perspectives can appear to be contradictory.

Understanding perspective in Relationships

When I' m counseling a couple, often times they both have the same exact experience but have cometely different perspectives of what actually happened. Usually one of the partners is  trying to impose their perspective on the other, which is what's creating the conflict. The truth is, our individual perspectives are alike. There are no abosoulutes. Reality can be so complex that equally valid observations from different perspectives can appear to be contradictory.

• What is post truth literature ?

In the post-truth era characterized by lies, propaganda and fake news - many have raised the issue of the meanings in the literature. It is the task of the interpreter to find the meaning and truth in any literature text. Meanings and truth can be found through literary criticism and analysis.

Thinking activity : Hamlet movie screeing

 Hello reader ,

About my observation on this movie "Hamlet ". This task given by Dr.Dilip Barad sir Department of English. This movie ending tragic end. Hamlet a reveng play.

 #   Que:1 How to faithful is the movie the original play ?

"Hamlet"  is a 1996 film adaptation of william Shakespeare's play "Hamlet" adapted and directed by Kenneth branagh, who also stars as prince Hamlet. Tragedy main hero good ability but tragedy ending why main hero died.
"To de, to sleep - To sleep, perchance to drean- ay. there's the rub, For in this sleep of death what dreams ..." (Shakespeare).

Hamlet : A Revenge play "Reveng never sleeps".
In the movie the director changes a lot of scenes he goes back and forth maybe the director thought it was easier for audience to  understand.

How can this  image faithful in movie ? This image  give the question .And this image suggest many ideas. skull intro of the people real story.

# Que:2 After watching the movie , have your perception about play, character or situation changed ?
Characters:-

Before I watched movie my view about character of  Gertude.Mother of Hamlet, she is good queen but after watching  suddenly changed in movie. All character different personality. whithin two months followed his mother's marriage to his uncle Claudius, which she herself afterward spoke of as their "O' erhasty marriage" To Hamlet this seemed so improper, and followed so hard upon the funeral of his father that he sarcastically spoke of it as due to
"Thrift, thrift, Horatio ! the funeral
baked-meats
Did coldly furnish forth the marriage tables".

 # Que:3  Do you feel 'aesthetic delight' while watching the movie ?If yes, exactly when did it happen? If no, can you explain with reasons ?

Yes, I feel 'aesthetic delight' There are many scene where I feel aesthetic delight but my favourite was; when Hemlet killed Cludius. and also in graveyard when Hamlet expressed his feelings to Ophelia:
I love Ophelia ; forty thousand brothers
Could not, with all their quatity of love,
Make up my sum,

# Que:4 Do you feel 'catharsis' while or after watching movie ? If yes, exactly when did it happen ? If no, can you explain with reasons ?

Catharsis means emotions of pity, fear, love ,care, hate and anger etc look in  the movie.
Shakespeare's Hamlet successfully reveals catharsis and hamartia through Hamlet's indecision, and by highlighting the tragic losses he endures because of the unfair death of father. The audience is guided to believe that Hamlet did not deserve to die or suffer the great losses that he did in the tragic play.
Hamlet hate your uncle .This movie look in catharsis.

# Que:5 Does screeing of movie help you in better understaning of the play ?

Yes, screeing of movie hlpe you in better understanding of the original play. This movie's plot is following of the original  text. Some time movie and play between different look. But I saw the movie I understand the play. Few seen play and movie in equal. Movie in look simple style understaning.Movie and play in look what is different thinks.

# Que:6 was there any particular scene or moment in the movie that will cherish lifetime ?
There are one scene graveyarf conversations about skull.

symbol :-skull

Yorick's skull A mature acceptance of humanity's shared fate

Hamlet's constant brooding about death and humanity comes to a head in the infamous graveyard scene, where Hamlet holds up the unearthed skull of Yorick, a court jester Hamlet knew and loved as a young boy. The skull itself is a physical remindet of the finality of death.Hamlet skull intro of the person real life story.

# Que:-7  If you are director , what changes would you like make in the remaking of movie on Shakespears "Hemlet" ?

If I am director, I want to  get many changes,  In the beginning  and ending look statue in movie but ending part statue broken, My opinion ending play in statue different  story and importance of the statue not broken. Hemlet  life importance only revenge of his father and killed his uncle.my opinion in Hamlet play in not only father revenge focus but importance of mother(family) .

# Que:8 what does the fallen status signifies ?

In the beginning of the movie camera rolls over the statue of king Hamlet out side the Elsinore castle and end with similar sequence this scene symbolize the cycle life and death.

# Que:9 While studying the play through movie, which approach do you find more applicable to the play ? why?Give reason with illustrations.

While studying the play through movie I found historical and biological. What is the philosophical/moral approach in literature: A moral or philosophical approach usually describes or evaluates a work in terms of the ideas and values it contains.. The philosophical approach in literature becomes much more than a novelty, It becomes something human.

# Que:10 which of the above mentioned approaches  appeals you more than other ? why? Give reason.

I think  that here is texual approach is more appropriate than the other approach. Philosophical approach,Feminist approach,Mythological approch, psychological approach,Historical and Biographicalapproach.Text always give the different idea. It become someting human.

Metaphysical Poetry : Reflective Blog

 Hello , Readers !

Que :- (1) Characteristics of Metaphysical poetry written by Jone Donne as well as any other Metaphysical poet

     #  What is a metaphysical  ?

Metaphysical word made of two words,

       Meta - Beyond

     Physical - our surrounding

# Difinition metaphysical poetry :-

"A group of poets emerged in the beginning of the seventeenth century whose poetry come to be known as the metaphysical poetry".

  # Characteristics of Metaphysical   Poetry

Donne's style is characterised by abrupt openings and various paradoxes, ironies and dislocations. He is particularly famous for his mastery of  metaphysical coinceits. The  metaphysical poets is a term coined by the poet and critic Samul Johnson  to describe a loose group of English lyric poets of the  17th century

-Far-fetched images.

-The use of conceits.

-Dramatic Quality.

-All metaphysicals were the men Of learning.

-Paradox

Perhaps  the most common characteristicis that metaphysical poetry contained large dose of wit. In although the poets were examining  serious questions about the existence of God or whether a human could possibly perceive the world , poets were sure to ponder those questions with humor.

Metaphysical poetry also sought to shock the reader and wake him or her up from his or her normal existence in order to question the unquestionable. The poetry often mixed ordinary speech with  paradoxes  and  puns. The results were strange, comparing  unlikely things, such as lover to a compass or the soul to a drop of dew. These weird comparisons were called conceits.

Metaphysical poery also explored a few common themes. They all had a religious sentiment. In addition, many of the poems explored the theme of carpe diem(seize  the day) and investigated the humanity of life.

One great way to analyze metaphysical poetry is to consider how the poems are about both thought and feeling. Think about it. How could you possibly write a poem about the existence of God if you didn' t have some emotional reaction to such an enormous, life- altering question ?

A word metaphysical first time used by Dr.Johnson in "The lives of poet ".

                     Born: 22 January 1572, London,United Kingdom

Died: 31 March 1631, London, United Kingdom

                   #   John Donne

John  Donne, the founding father of the school of metaphysical poetry . John Donne was an English poet and cleric in the Church of England. He is considered the preeminent repsentative of th metaphysical poets. His works are noted for their strong, sensual style and include sonnets, love poems, religious poems, satires and sermons.

      #   Metaphysical  poetry  By JohnDonne

                  -   " The sun Rising"

                  #   The Flea

The Flea is  an ideal example of the metaphysical by Donne.

Theme:The theme is love and pain. Mercy of the creature.
For example.

" Mark but this Flea, and mark in this
How little that, which thou deniest me is
It sucke'd me first, and now sucks thee
And in this Flea out two blood mingled be."

For example.

- Is  taken   from the field  of Biology to expression of love.
-The Flea is a small insect with sucks blood from human body this insed used here as a theme for the expression of love .                                                                                                              #  The Sun Rising

In  "The sun Rising "Donne considers his beloved the centre of the universe.
This feeling is conveyed by making the sun revolve round their room:

"Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere;
This bed thy center is, these walls thy sphere ".
Love is the main things that binds all things together
Human body is used as mirror of physical love experienced between people.

Que(2) : Write critical analysis of metaphysical poem of poets other than John Donne
when we begin exploring John Donne's  verse, the description of him as a 'metaphysical' poet is inescapable and so it's worth considering in detail.

Importantly, Donne and the other 16th-and17th- century poets gathered under the 'metaphysical' banner -Carew, Vaughan and Marvell  to name some of the most renowned-didn't form a cohesive movement in their own time. However, their stylistic similarities - in particular a kind of showy originality and lingustic immediacy -have meant that they have been clustered together for centuries. Some critics such as the 18th-century essayist  Samuel Jonson have criticised metaphysical poets for what they saw as their self -conscious cleverness. Others such as the poet T.S.Eliot     have celebrated their inventiveness.

         -Abraham Cowley -"Cowley's Essays"

                 -Thomas Traherne-"Centuries Of meditations"

  -Thomas Carew-"The Poems"

 #   George Herbert

George Herbert,'The pulley 'Another of Herbert's poems whose paradoxes and wordplay show him to be one of the greatest metaphysical poets. 'The Pulley' is a creation poem Which imagines God making man and bestowing all available attributes upon him-except for rest.Work is important so made Nature, rather than Nature itself. We suppose one way of looking it is to say that God is advocating hard work  as its own reward, and justifying having just one day of the week as a 'day of rest ' on which to worship Him. Man should be 'rich and weary'- rich not only in a financial but in a moral and spiritual sense, too , we assume.

Thinking activity :Faustus : A play by christopher Marlow

-Christopher Marlow(1564-1593):-
                                                                                                                                                                          -He alsoknown as "kit Marlow".
-He was a translator of an  Elizabethan era.
     -Infuenced by shakespear.
-He was the first major dramatics of that era.
-Dr.Faustus play written by christopher marlow (1588).
                                                                                                                                                                      Dr.Faustus play : Thinking activity:-
                                                                                                                                                                    -Dr.Faustus:- The hero of play.

-Valdez and cornelius:-scholar friends of faustus.

-Lucifer:-The prince of hell.

-Belzebub:-The fallen Angel.

-Mephistopheles:-The ugly Devil.

-Wagner:-Servant of Faustus.

-Clown:-Rustic, servant of wagner.

-Rafe:-Friend of Robin.

-Vintner:-Wine seller, Inn-keeper

-Horse courser:-He buys a horse from Dr.Faustus.

-A knight:-One who disregards Faustus.

-An old man:-He advises Faustus to turn to the right path.

-Scholars, friars and attendants:-Scholars are friends of Faustus.

-Duchess Of Vanholt:-wife of Duke of vanholt whodemands and gets a dish of grapes from     Faustus.

-Good Angel:-A spirit that urges Faustus to repent for his agreement with Lucifer.

-Bad Angel:-The spirit that serves as the evil part of Dr.Faustus's conscience.

-Balik and Belcher:-The spirits called by wagner to frighten the rustic Clown.

Question 1 :- The play directed by Matthew Dunster for Globe theatre ends with this scene (see the image of Lucifer ). What does it signify ?

                                                             Lucifer :The prince of hell

Dr.Faustus repenting from the depth of his heart .. We can say that the tragedy of life is in what dies inside a man while he lives it means at the end of play Dr.Faustus realized that he chose a wrong path and at the end by his grief he indirectly dies inside and becaused of that fall of Dr.Faustus, Lucifer feel his great tripumphal against him.

Thus, here the last scene of Lucifer signifies his great triumphal.

Question 2 :-Is God present in the play ? If yes, where and how ? If No, why ?

Yes, God present in the play

                               -As a Good Angel - a symbol

-As a 'Homo, fuge' -a sing

                              - As a old Men -a humanbeing

-As a chorus -a soul of God

In this play the God in not present but old man are like a God , but when Dr.Faustus at the last scene there we can say that time Dr.Faustus to need of God.

Question 3:-what reading and interetation can be given to this image (see the image of Daedalus and lcarus with reference to central theme of the play Dr.Faustus ?
